Homework: final case study research

The name of the game is Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA 5) now the release date of the game is September 17th 2013  and the Institutions behind the game is Rockstar North, Rockstar Games. The gaming platforms it is available on are (e.g. PS4, PC, Wii etc.): is PS3, PS4, XBOX 360 and finally X BOX ONE.

Print:

The print adverts toadvertised the game are Billboards, bus, posters and on bus stops but the one underneath are magazine. The key conventions of the poster is that this front cover is successful in the promotion of this game because, many people who don’t know about this game will then have heard about this game and will be able to explore more about the game and maybe buy the game because of what they have read about it. The 3 quotes of the review of the game are 1) "It's the most dense, intricate Grand Theft Auto city yet, and it's only a quarter of the map" and finally 2)  "MISSIONS RANGE FROM CAR CHASES TO ELABORATE JAMES BOND-STYLE STUNTS"

Broadcast

No my chosen game did not have any TV advert to promotethe game GTA V. (The embed is not working for the game trailer) The trailer is very effective to the target audience by promoting the game into a more of a american gangster movie with a mix of mordern features (like new cars) or old features (old cars) and this makes the audience want to buy the game more.
Can you find any other broadcast features on the game - interviews, launch party events, video reviews, clips of the gameplay on YouTube etc. Write about how they effectively promote the game to its target audience.

E-media

The offical game website attracts the audience by showing screenshot of gameplay of new add ons to make the person to buy the new stuff to show off to the friends. And that is very creative game because it makes them spend there money more and more. Plus the game dont have its own YouTube channel. User generated gameplay helps promote the game by every one playing the game and some one else wants to be in the group. And GTA V has 1.9 million likes.

Fifa 14 Case Study

Print

  1. Find a FIFA14 print advert and describe how it promotes the game. This advert promotes the game (FIFA14) in many ways the most big one I think is that the took a picture of a Fifa game play as its central image.
  2. What key conventions of print adverts can you find on the FIFA ad? The key conventions I can view on the is a central image, title of publication (FIFA14) and text underneath it saying that (IN STORES NOW)with a logo on the left side. Product name? The product is FIFA 14 Font? Slogan? This print advert has no slogan shown. Central image? The central image is a screen shot of the game play of FIFA 14 Colour? The colour of the 14 matches with the Barcelona kit by the colour scheme. Same with Real Madrid but with FIFA and their outfit.
  3. Find three reviews for FIFA14 that were originally published in videogame magazines. Are they positive or negative about the game? Copy and paste one quote from each review.                                                    a. Guardian- 80/100- "The game's difference-maker is entirely on the pitch – that new movement system. In multi player especially, where the absence of an all-knowing AI sees imperfect humans make repeated mistakes, it leads to slightly clumsier, boggier, slower matches. All the same, the change is only incremental, and doesn't ruin the game by any means"- this review from the Guardian is positive."    b.  X-ONE Magazine UK- 80/100- "Learn the nuances then revel in the gorgeous results."   c. GamesRadar- 70/100- FIFA 14 requires more patience than most of its predecessors, and even when your patience is rewarded, it often feels like it's flattering to deceive. Slow and stodgy in midfield but dynamic and physical at either end of the pitch, it's possible that some might think this the best FIFA ever--but you'd be splitting hairs, not defences.
  4. Why are magazine reviews effective in promoting the game to FIFA14's target audience? Because everyone reads magazine and people may think that if its good enough to be on a magazine then there good enough to play it.
  5. In your opinion, is print or e-media more effective in reaching the FIFA14 target audience? I honestly would think that E-Media is more effective than Print because people use technology a lot and then the trailer/game play can come up while playing a game or before a YouTube video  but then Print is mostly posters and billboards and people don't pay attention to that a lot.
Broadcast

  1. Watch the FIFA14 TV advert on YouTube. How the does the advert attract an audience? The audience is attracted to the FIFA 14 advert because it has celebrities that we may now  i.e. DRAKE and Messi) and there may be some of our inspiration and  we can get attracted to the advert.

  3. How does the TV advert feature the FIFA14 brand? Font? Slogan? The slogan is "we are FIFA 14" Main star? The main star is Lionel Messi but they are other stars in the advert which are Gareth Bale and a celebrity who is DRAKE.
  4. Why is there a combination of famous footballers, celebrities and regular people in the advert? Well there are a lot of types of people and it is mixed to show that the game is for every one not only regular people.
  5. Watch the FIFA14 trailer on YouTube. How does it differ from the TV advert? Well the TV advert shows small amounts of game footage with people playing it but in the trailer it is more focused on the game play.
